Supporting renewable energy education at University of Zimbabwe

It is evident that renewable energy markets will only develop with the required local human capacities. Recognizing the need for renewable energy labour and experts, the RECP is supporting training and higher education activities in partner countries. Zimbabwe has a huge potential for renewable energy sources – especially for solar PV and water heating, biogas, and hydro power – while the availability of skilled experts in the country is limited. Currently, the RECP is supporting the University of Zimbabwe in the establishment of an international renewable energy Master’s programme, in cooperation with the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and the Makerere University in Uganda. Adapted to local market needs and with a close link to the Zimbabwean and international industry and the academic world, the Master’s programme will provide graduates with up-to-date knowledge and hands-on experience to enter the renewable energy job market.
