Nigeria, one of the biggest economies in Africa, is emerging to be one of the most attractive solar markets in the region. Solarplaza organised the first Solar PV conference focused solely on the Nigerian market: The Solar Future Nigeria, 25-26 April 2017 in Lagos, which covered the full solar PV electrification spectrum: from utility scale to pico-solar and in between.

Bringing together 200+ representatives from development banks, investment funds, solar developers, IPPs, EPCs & other solar stakeholders, this event was the key-platform for all those involved in the sector to attend.

SolarPower Europe organised a tailored B2B Business and Finance matchmaking session, supported by the RECP, to connect projects with financiers and other key market participants.

About Matchmaking

The potential of solar energy for the African continent cannot be overstated. In order to support Africa’s continuing economic growth and sustainable development, generation capacity on the continent will have to quadruple by 2040.

Solar, as a proven technology, will be critical on a continent that boasts twice the insolation of many traditional European markets. However, smart solutions and strong private investments are needed to achieve this goal.

SolarPower Europe organised a structured information and matchmaking session that brought together businesses and financiers. Every Solar Future Nigeria participant was invited to join. Supported by RECP, this matchmaking promoted African solar markets and brought together the European and African solar industry with financiers and other key market participants.
